Feature · Chloe & Rose Studio, Canada
We need to talk about what's being sold under our name.
One of our hand-embroidered quilted cotton baskets. Every design is stitched by hand in our Canadian studio.
Inside our studio — where every basket starts as a blank piece of 100% cotton canvas.
This year, something changed. We started receiving messages — confused, sometimes upset — from customers who had received a basket that looked nothing like the one they had seen on our page. Thin fabric. A pattern that looked printed on rather than stitched. Sides that collapsed inward when filled.
We understood immediately what had happened.
Several online stores had begun selling quilted fabric baskets that, in their product photographs, looked very similar to ours. Same cylindrical shape. Same nature motifs. Same general aesthetic. A completely different reality.
We don't know where those baskets are made. We don't know what materials are used, or under what conditions. What we do know — with complete certainty — is this: they were not made by us.
A Chloe & Rose basket is hand-embroidered. Every butterfly, every dragonfly, every hummingbird is stitched thread by thread onto 100% cotton canvas — before a single layer of quilting begins. The process takes between three and five hours per piece. It has never been any other way.
We are writing this because you deserve to know what you are buying. And because every basket that leaves our studio carries hours of someone's careful hands — and that deserves to be honoured.

THE CRAFT
Three to five hours. One honest basket.
The Cotton
We use only 100% cotton canvas — thick enough to hold its shape, soft enough to embroider by hand. No polyester blends. No shortcuts. We source from Canadian and American suppliers we have worked with since the very first basket.
100% COTTON CANVAS · NO SYNTHETICS
The Design
Every motif — butterfly, dragonfly, hummingbird, poppy — is hand-drawn onto the canvas before cutting. No digital transfers. No heat-press prints. The design is part of the fabric from the very beginning.

The Embroidery
This is where the basket comes to life. Each thread is chosen for its colour and weight, then stitched one by one through the cotton canvas. A single basket can carry thousands of individual stitches. This stage alone takes two to three hours.
HAND-EMBROIDERED · 2–3H PER PIECE
The Quilting
Once the embroidery is complete, three layers — outer canvas, batting, lining — are stitched together in a dense quilting pattern. This is what gives the basket its structure. It holds its shape when full, empty, and after years of daily use.
THREE-LAYER QUILTING · MACHINE WASHABLE
THE DIFFERENCE
Not all quilted baskets are made equal.

WHAT REAL CUSTOMERS SAY
Verified purchases · 4.8 / 5 average
« I ordered from another site first — the basket arrived flat, the design was just a print. Then I found Chloe & Rose. You can feel the difference the moment you touch it. »
« The dragonfly basket sits in my living room and every guest asks where I found it. It's not just a basket — it's a piece of art that I use every single day. »
« I've used mine for my craft supplies for six months. The embroidery is as bright as the day it arrived and the structure hasn't moved. Absolutely worth every cent. »
« I gave one to my sister for her birthday and she cried. The quality is something you can feel immediately — this was made with love, not a machine. »
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Your Questions, Answered
Every authentic Chloe & Rose basket has a hand-embroidered design — you can see and feel the raised thread on the fabric surface. There is also a sewn-in cotton care label on the inside. If the design looks flat or printed, or if there is no interior label, it did not come from our studio. When in doubt, contact us directly at support@chloeandrose.com.
Yes — entirely. Every motif on every basket is stitched by hand, thread by thread, onto 100% cotton canvas. This is not a print, a transfer, or a machine embroidery. It is the same process used in traditional textile craft, applied to every single piece we make.
We cannot speak to what other stores sell or where their products come from. What we can confirm is that Chloe & Rose baskets are made exclusively in our Canadian studio. We do not wholesale our products to third-party retailers. If you see a similar-looking basket at a different store, it was not made by us.
Yes. Our baskets are made from 100% cotton canvas with colourfast thread, and can be machine washed on a gentle cycle at 30°C. Reshape while damp and allow to air dry. The structure and embroidery will hold their form after washing.
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all orders, no questions asked. If your basket is not exactly what you expected, contact us and we will arrange a full refund or exchange. Your satisfaction is the only standard we work to.
